The most significant benefit you can get out of years in education, says American author James A. Michener is his article entitled “How to Live with Life” published by Reader’s Digest, is to learn. How to learn, how to organize and how to educate and re-educate yourself are one of the most essential things to learn. In other words, it is not so much the formal contents of education that really count. Yes, the diploma you could earn out of studying in college could be a good start. However, that diploma would not be able to define who you are. More vital are the skills – of thinking, interpreting, reading, listening, writing, speaking, goal-setting, organizing, planning – and more. These are the end products, the fruits of your years of labor in school. Equipped with these abilities, you will be able to continue learning, education, and re-educating yourself. These skills will help you succeed and be happy in the career you choose. Education does not end with a college or a postgraduate degree. In fact, it does not end at all. As an English physicist Arthur C. Clarke says, “For every man, education should be a process which continues all his life. We have to abandon, as swiftly as possible, the idea that schooling is something restricted to youth. How can it be in a world where half the things man knows at the age of twenty are no longer true at forty- and half of the things he knows at forty had not been discovered when he was twenty.” So do not stop learning. Stretch your mind. Good books will take you to other places and expose you to different perspectives. Attend seminars, enroll in workshops on creative pursuits, and deepen what you already know. Widen your horizon. Remember that there is no end in learning. Increase it and share it as well. It is one thing that never diminishes even if it is shared to other people. There is no suitable age in learning. No matter how young or how old you are, always strive for learning and realizations. Learning is our ticket to knowledge and so is our ticket to self-actualization. You can talk about...
