Is it really possible to learn while enjoying? Does studying make you yawn even by the thought of it? Could there be ways to enjoy college? College has been viewed as one of the most exciting times in a person’s life. However, college is not just about being free and joyful. College has been a word to describe hardships, tedious home works and novel-length reading assignments and in order to have a meaningful, relevant and practical education there must be a proper balance of the five basic aspects to college success which are the following: Requirements and grades. If you complete course and subject requirements only to learn grades, you still reap good results. You become more accepting of tasks you have to do. This makes you a more dependable person. Fulfilling your requirements in school prepares you to be more responsible and dependable. Scholarship and skills . Every student has weak areas. Whether it may figures, public speaking or memorizing scientific formula. No successful draftsman, doctor, engineer, lawyer or teacher has mastered his art or craft by accident. They all strive for excellence. Every subject was important to them. They pursued knowledge with commitment. So you, as a student should never settle for mediocrity. Values. Spiritual, cultural, and universal values prepare you to journey through life. These give you the strength and sensitivity to cope with all of life’s laughter and tears, its joys and grief, its hopes and disappointments and its successes and failures. Application. The final test for genuine learning is applying what you have learned. Your head knowledge, theories and ideas must become practical, useful and relevant realities. Learning which was never put into practice can be considered as vain. Use what you learn. Faith in God. Above all, learning and application need to be rooted and based on faith in God. Many students just drift through college- confused, anxious, fearful and perhaps frustrated. A right relationship with God gives meaning and direction to all that you do. Learning and living with a purpose come with knowing God personally. What happens outside you is beyond your control, but the way you choose to react towards them is within your control. You can make your studies enjoyable, relevant, and meaningful. How do you do it is in your hands.
