Big-time businessmen and their corporations plan and prepare for every venture they are about to undertake. Efficient housewives, conscientious professors, and clever students all know the rewards of a job well-done stemming from painstaking planning and meticulous preparation.

Why are planning and preparation crucial? Primarily, they help you look ahead, give you direction. Forewarn and forearm you of possible snags and pitfalls. They serve as blueprints for a mental run-through of an action. Proper planning and preparation foster greater efficiency in your study performance. The following are the basic steps for you to consider in your daily planning and preparation. List down things to do for the day. Jot down every task from phone calls to note writing to shopping, to attending class, to doing your lessons- even watching television. Cross out each task once you are done with it. This will prevent the hassles and headaches of forgetfulness. Through this, you will not waste time and energy trying to remember what you forgot. Prioritize and subordinate the things to do. Decide which should be done first. The less important and less urgent work can do later on in the day. A good technique is to work on the most difficult and unpleasant task first. This makes the rest of the work easy to accomplish. Finish what you have set out to do on your day’s list. Tomorrow will have its own list of to do things to accomplish. If you put off until tomorrow what you can do today, you will be swamped by more unfinished work. Draft a list of things to do for tomorrow. This habit has two advantages. One, you plans stay overnight in your subconscious and yield better ideas in the morning. Two, you do not lose precious time in the morning drawing up a list.
